What does therapy mean to you? I believe that therapy begins by first focusing on the individual and their needs. Specifically, I seek to support clients in cultivating healthier thought patterns and behaviors through a combination of cognitive and dialectic behavioral techniques. I enjoy working with children to seniors who may be leery about seeking help, feel pressured into therapy or have had bad experiences in the past. Others have mentioned that they have been simply drawn to my genuineness and non-judgmental personality, feeling a sense of ease while sitting and talking with me.
I graduated with my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor focusing on clinical social work and therapy. Additionally, I hold a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. I have a combination of over five years of community mental health experience. Previously, I helped adults with mental illness locate resources, assess their needs, and arrange necessary services. Prior to this, I assisted children with behavioral issues and adolescents struggling with substance abuse. Collectively, my experience has helped solidify my passion for helping individuals find their best way forward in life.
I am passionate about helping others heal and assisting individuals in pursuing goals that allow them to live their best life possible. I strongly believe that therapy starts with the individual, the couple, or the family, and builds through each conversation. By taking a multiple modality approach, each individual, each situation, each session becomes uniquely tailored to each client. I hope I get the chance to share my passion for therapy by getting the unique opportunity of working with you.
